Phosphates are building blocks for biomolecules such as DNA, RNA and proteins and can thus stimulate growth of animals such as fish, shrimp and corals. However, frequent feeding of your animals will rapidly result in phosphate concentrations which are no longer beneficial, but rather toxic to corals and fish. Dependent on the feed used (some are high in inorganic phosphates) or the method used to remove nitrates there can be a sur plus of phosphates which requires an additional media to remove this excess of phosphates from your aquarium water. Most, commonly used, phosphate removers are based on Granular FerricOxide/Hydroxide also known as GFO. PhosR is based on the same principle, however, PhosR can be regenerated in a new and easy way.

EASY REGENERATION

PX-R
We have developed an easy and fast way to regenerate GFO which is NOT based on NaOH.
In every 1 liter GFO box, there is an additional pouch present with 40 gram of regeneration powder.

How to use:
1) Just dissolve the powder in 1 liter of tap or RO water, add the saturated GFO substrate and stir for a few minutes.
2) Let it stand for approximately 1 hour (the water will get a purplish color) and remove the regeneration buffer.
3) Wash 2 times with 1 liter tap water and once with 1 liter tank water and your GFO substrate is ready to be used again.
